Physical Requirements :
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must occasionally bend and stoop. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
Qualifications :
Preferably holds a COT Certification. To become a certified ophthalmic technician, you need a high school diploma, complete either an accredited ophthalmic technician program or gain equivalent experience and then pass the Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) exam offered by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). While certification is not always mandatory, it is offered through a training program or on-the-job training, which includes a practical component alongside the written exam.
Basic Function :
The employee is part of the front office and clinical staff will be required to perform all duties of the front office and clinical area. The employee is responsible for registration including greeting patients, securing and entering accurate data as required, answering the phones, scheduling appointments and routing calls appropriately, processes release of records to patients and to other facilities. Knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy, eye diseases, and common treatment procedures. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated commitment to patient care and safety. Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
