Engineer in Training – Water Resources | Memphis, TN | Full-Time
The Engineer-in-Training or Engineer applies engineering principles to drainage and stormwater management projects, supporting the review, design, and development of plans, reports, and technical solutions. This role provides assistance to Project Managers, coordinates with multi-discipline teams, and works directly with clients and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and project success.
What You'll Do
- Perform drainage plan reviews (work performed in an outside office).
- Maintain and grow technical knowledge in current technologies, design techniques, procedures, regulations, materials, and specifications.
- Support Project Managers with proposal development, work plan development, multi-discipline coordination, schedules, budgets, and client / team meetings.
- Conduct field surveys and substantial completion audits.
- Perform advanced engineering calculations and review calculations of project team members.
- Utilize design software to develop scalable plans and diagrams such as Land Development and Erosion & Sedimentation (E&S) Plans.
- Process shop drawings, respond to RFIs, edit specifications, create charts / schedules, and develop cost estimates.
- Perform QA / QC procedures and enforce quality standards throughout project development.
- Assist in developing technical solutions to construction challenges.
- Attend meetings to assist the Project Manager in formulating project requirements.
- Support clients through regulatory permitting and approval processes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited college or university.Minimum 2 years of design experience, including at least 1 year of drainage design experience.Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.Strong technical knowledge of design software, regulations, and specifications.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Why Join Us
