Job Description
BIW's Life Cycle Engineering Department supports modernization design, construction, and test of in-service Navy DDG 51 and DDG 1000 surface combatants in multiple locations around the world. The DDG 51 Engineering team is seeking an Engineering Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) to provide technical leadership for CS / C4I Ship Alterations. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), This position ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for Combat System / C4I modernization alterations aboard DDG 51 Class ships as assigned.
- ENG III assignments will include systems engineering oversight and development of new alterations of medium to high complexity.
- Assemble Technical Data and Government Furnished Information (GFI) into packages suitable for use by Design for Ship Installation.
- Provide technical leadership for Ship Installation Drawing (SID) package development for Ship Alterations tasked to Planning Yard and PSA.
- Support Design in the resolution of waterfront Engineering issues that may arise during installation of Ship Alterations during CNO Availabilities.
- Develop and process Ship Alteration Technical Data in accordance with schedule constraints and GSO compliance.
- Develop ROM estimates for emergent CS / C4I design and engineering work.
- Write / review Ship Change Documents (SCDs) for all assigned ShipAlts.
- Occasional travel is required.
- A workload exceeding 40 hours per week and occasional work outside of normal business hours is expected in this role.
Team Collaboration and Communication
Interface with the Navy, Navy Contractors, BIW Class Design and BIW management.Brief ship check teams to ensure all applicable guidance is followed and accompany the Design team on ship checks as required.Interface with NAVSEA, the NSWCs and other contractors as required in seeking solutions for CS / C4I issues.Participate in off-site meetings and other events on an occasional basis.Participate in special projects and lead technical meetings as assigned.Continuous Improvement

BS in Engineering is Required.Engineer III : 3+ years' experience required.Required / Preferred Experience
Familiarity with ship construction and overhaul specifications required.Experience with Navy CS / C4I ship integration preferred.Strong Project Management / Engineering skills required.Must have the flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment under the pressure of changing and often conflicting priorities.Ability to multi-task and manage simultaneous projects required.Strong research skills and attention to detail required.Self-motivation, strong work ethic and ability to work independently required.Ability to work effectively in a team environment with varying personalities required.Competence in MS Office products and general PC skills required.Strong oral and written communication skills required.J-18808-Ljbffr
