The Combined Cycle Design group for America region is looking for a qualified mechanical or chemical engineer to support Thermal Cycle Design and Performance Testing on various power generation projects. The primary function of this position is to support Thermal Cycle Design of power plant projects which includes development of Heat Balance Diagrams, Thermal Performance Guarantees, and Performance Risk Assessments. Design Responsibilities include a wide range of plant configurations including Combined Cycle, Conventional Steam Cycles, solar, gasification plants as well as work on advanced cycle concepts. Additionally, potential candidates may be asked to develop Performance Testing Procedures based on ASME codes and standards and conduct field performance testing.
How you’ll make an Impact
Specific job responsibilities include the following :
- Develop Heat Balance Diagram Specifications and Performance Guarantees for Thermodynamic Systems
- Develop Performance Testing Procedures per ASME Performance Test Codes
- Conduct Field Performance Testing Activities based on applicable testing procedures including supporting of appropriate cycle isolations, measurements and calculations, and meeting appropriate test uncertainty requirements
- Support contract review for environmental and performance testing
- Support Combined Cycle Performance Studies on new frame developments as well as various service projects
- Support Plant Emissions and Acoustical Calculations
- Develop, review, and implement permitting plans for power generation facilities
- Resolve field installation and commissioning problems associated with equipment and systems within assigned responsibilities
- Communicate in both written and verbal form and interface with a wide range of organizations both internally and externally regarding power plant system and equipment design requirements.
- Develop, track and meet project or proposal schedule commitments and budgets
What you Bring
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical EngineeringUp to 5 years of experience in various power plant components.Strong communications skills, able to clearly and concisely express technical information of power plant system and equipment design requirements (or data) to non-technical associates, peers and managementStrong Technical writing skillsPresentation and meeting facilitation skillsProficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and ExcelQualified Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States. Qualified Applicants will not require employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States.A working knowledge of thermodynamics and fundamental power plant theory is requirement for this position.The individual must have a desire to learn and become proficient with several computer aided thermal modeling codes, statistics, risk management, and process design tools.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as this position requires working in close conjunction with all design engineering functions of the Division as well as sales, marketing, outside architectural engineers, and project management.Preferred Knowledge / Skills, Education, and Experience
