Job Summary :

To assist in the delivery of aspects of health care in a clinical capacity based on the needs of the client and standards of operating room care.

Essential Responsibilities

Fiscal

  • A ssist anesth e sia, s u rge o n s, and asso c iates with p rocedural r e lated tas k s
  • M onitor in st r u m ent / equip m ent for pr o cessing fo l l owing m anufacture / A MMI / A O R N / AST sta n dards or pr a ctice and g uidelines.
  • C arry out est a blished pro c edure s : cl e a ning, dec o n ta m inating and ste r ilization.
  • P r ovide assis t ance in the order of pr i o rity and r e - prio r itizes a s designated by t h e direct o r o r designee.
  • A lter own t i m e schedule t o adju s t to c hanges in a cti v ity level of the d e part m ent.
  • J u dicious use of supplies.

Qual i ty

  • Support clie n t care by re a dily respo n d ing to and r eporting on-going i n t e r m ittent a nd unexpected changes i n delegated aspects of c a r e.
  • F a cilit a te pl an ning and ad justing pr o v isions of p a tie n t care per request of a n esthe s ia, su rgeons and O R associa t es.
  • C onsult and c ollab o rates appropriate l y to re v ise p reference cards, in s trument s e ts and sup p l y pull shee t s as techno l ogical adva n ces influence changes i n d e leg a ted a sp ects of care.

  • Collaborate with other health care provider s regardin g th e pla n of intraoperative cares, including instr u m ent / supply set up prior to case.
  • Respond quickly and is able to work under stress related to m ulti p le requests for supplies / instru m ents.
  • Maintain professional environ m ent and keep noise to a m inimum at all ti m es
  • Exe m plify e xcellent guest relations to patients, visitors, and physicians and co-workers.
  • Collaborate as a m e m ber of the operati v e team to enhance patient flow with changes to daily procedure schedules.

    • Patien t Safety

  • Cleaning, deconta m ination, and sterili z ation of all instru m ents, m etal goods, and equipment used for patient care.
  • Plan and prepare for sur g ical interve n tion based on individualized needs of each patient and respond to on-going, i n ter m ittent, and unexpected chan g e s in delegated aspects of care.
  • Adher e t o HIPA A an d follo w socia l m e dia policy and adhere to standards of practice for instru m ent and supply sterility.
  • Verify double check system to verify m edications / supplies that are passed to the sterile field.
  • Maintain just culture and report any b reaks in st e rile f ield and acti v ities surrounding patient care.

    Mandatory Licensure / Certifications :

    (CST) Currently certified by The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or (LPN) Curr e ntly licen s ed by the In d i a na Sta t e Board of Nurses' Registration and Nursing Education as a Registered Nurse.
