Associate Director, Domestic Programs

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

The Columbia University School of General Studies (GS) is the finest liberal arts college in the United States dedicated to making Ivy League education accessible to nontraditional students. GS was founded in 1947 on the mission of expanding access to elite higher education, and it remains the most diverse college in the Ivy League, with many transfer, first-generation, and international students. GS students are fully integrated with Columbia's broader undergraduate population and are taught by Columbia's celebrated faculty.

The Associate Director for Domestic Programs is a key member of the strategic initiatives team at Columbia GS and works to support domestic partnerships and programs at the School. The incumbent helps manage the daily and strategic operations associated with domestic programs for the School, including the planning and execution of our domestic partnerships and the associated enrollment objectives, and acts as a key liaison to our partner institutions. The Associate Director helps to ensure collaborations between and among all departments within the School that are critical to the success of GS's strategic initiatives and closely coordinates planning for all domestic international programs with colleagues in the Office of Admissions, the Operations team, the Educational Financing Office, the Communications Office, the Dean of Students Office, Academic Affairs and Alumni and Development.

Responsibilities

• Working as part of the larger strategic initiatives team focusing on domestic partnership programs with community colleges, non-profits, or other domestic four-year institutions, the Associate Director works on all new partnerships and helps maintain existing relationships with partner institutions.
• Responsible on all aspects of planning and implementation of these programs, including the successful realization of associated enrollment objectives.

Acts as a key liaison to universities, colleges, or programs.

• The Associate Director will make site visits to partner campuses to meet with colleagues and to support recruitment efforts at our partner institutions as needed.

The Associate Director for Domestic Programs is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and executing ongoing tasks supporting various GS strategic initiatives and GS's domestic partnership programs. The Associate Director will be responsible for the annual domestic partnership calendar. The Associate Director's main duties include :

• Students Newsletter Support
• Transcripts retrieval & dissemination for each cohort (semester)
• Admissions cycle reports for Partners (weekly / monthly)
• Admissions packet and student handbook updates (annual)
• Program website maintenance (ongoing)
• Graduation clearance with partners (annual)
• Domestic Programs calendar maintenance (ongoing)
• Participation in the admissions process as necessary
• Staffing graduation events (annual)
• Financial Aid spreadsheet preparation maintenance (annual)
• Works closely with the admissions team on key admissions objectives and works with the Senior Associate Dean and Vice Dean to ensure partner collaboration on key admissions and enrollment objectives. Is responsible for coordinating with appropriate colleagues at our partner institutions to plan the review and interview processes for these programs and will ensure that simultaneous admissions and enrollment cycles are completed seamlessly for all programs.
• The Associate Director will also be a reader on the admissions committee for domestic and international partner programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and a minimum of 4 to 6 years of related experience.
• Experience working on partnership programs, domestic and international, including the development of new programs in a university or other complex environment desirable.
• Proven experience creating, maintaining, and managing project plans.
• Proven ability to own, influence, and be accountable for the success of projects managed.
• Excellence in communications, relationship building, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational influence.
• Comfortable with organizational ambiguity and changes inherent to business process changes.
• Possess the following qualities : integrity, hands-on, creative, forward-looking, attention to detail, sensitivity to timelines, goal-oriented, and motivator.
• Ability to influence group dynamics in a team player environment. Ability to work with resources and resource managers to identify issues & roadblocks and to facilitate solutions.
