As an Assistive Technology Specialist, you'll assess client needs, recommend and install assistive devices, and provide hands-on training to ensure confidence and usability. You'll work directly with clients, document your work, troubleshoot equipment, and replace defective devices as needed. Job Description-
- Provide assessment and training for individuals with disabilities to determine the need for and enable clients to use assistive technology devices regarding services available to assist.
- Set up equipment, integrate with existing systems, and troubleshoot problem areas where applicable.
- Furnish written documentation on all meetings, assessments, and contact with client or individual.
- Schedule meetings to meet with current and potential clients as well as present clients and meet with those individuals.
- Evaluate clients to determine what assistive technology will be beneficial and recommend appropriate equipment. Recommend assistive technology equipment that will assist clients. Evaluate clients' needs as deemed necessary.
- Replace all equipment that is defective.
- Train clients on all equipment and accompanying software that accompanies that equipment.
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications-
Associate's degree in computer related filed. Bachelor's degree in computer science preferred.Two (2) years of experience working with computers or assistive technology devices and services equipment applicable to Assistive Technology; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable to the hiring authority.Experience and knowledge in operating office equipment, including computers and software.General knowledge of Technical and Mechanical operations in Assistive Technology.Ability to lift 50 lbsBenefits-
