Field Service Engineer – Transformers & Substations (Travel Required)
Job purpose : This position performs routine skilled and technical support work in the inspection, repair and maintenance of transmission and distribution substation electrical equipment. The role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and may involve hazards related to moving mechanical parts, elevated work, and electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and repair high voltage power transformers.
- Operate oil processing equipment for transformer vacuum filling and oil processing.
- Maintain oil processing equipment in mechanical working order.
- Transport oil processing equipment, generators, and trailers to customer locations.
- Assist in coordinating substation services with technicians, electricians and project manager.
- Travel to different customer sites / locations.
- Oversee equipment performance and ensure proper function.
- Provide reporting on equipment gauge monitoring and daily progress / activities.
Required
Must have 5 or more years of industry experience.High School diploma or GED. Supplemental courses in electrical maintenance are desired.Must possess a current and valid driver's license, and be able to maintain a good driving record.Must be able to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.Must be able to pass a fit for duty exam.Must be available for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel.Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays and nights.Able and willing to travel up to 75% as needed.Preferred
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)NCCO Crane CertificationSome knowledge of fundamentals and principles of mechanical maintenance.Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions in power distribution facilities.Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and prints.Ability to read and interpret power generation and distribution metering and recording devices.Ability to follow oral and written directions.Benefits
