Director, Business Development
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with senior Business Area (BA) leaders, as well as with business development, technical, and functional teams, to meet division financial objectives. This involves engaging with customers, identifying potential business opportunities, and contributing to corporate and segment strategic growth initiatives. This requisition is for the Business Development (BD) Lead for the Space Superiority and Imaging (SSI) Division's Space Defense Solutions (SDS) Business Area. SDS delivers Ground-based Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Operations, Ground-based Missile Warning / Tracking Operations, Modernization, and Sustainment (OM&S), Operational Test and Training Solutions, Payload Processing, and Space Warfighting Domain solutions to Title 10 for Space Warfighting missions. Reporting directly to the SSI Division BD Director, the candidate will be tasked with formulating and implementing strategic plans for the entire Business Area aimed at securing wins in the T10 Ground-based SDA, T10 Operational Test and Training, Strategic Warning, Payload Processing, and Space Warfighting Domain markets. Success in this position requires proactive and regular interactions with U.S. Government customers and the creation of internal documentation that clearly communicates these strategic plans in alignment with L3Harris procedures. As the BD Lead for SDS, the candidate will have a team of BD and Capture Managers to assist in executing the strategic plan and identifying opportunities that would comprise the BA pipeline.
Essential Functions :
- Manage team of SDS BD and Capture Managers providing high level guidance for their initiatives while also performing BD for approximately half of the BA portfolio.
- Lead the development and maintenance of an opportunity pipeline with the objective of achieving annual BA financial objectives.
- Lead the development of strategic campaigns for SSI / SDS, driving initiatives that target new business growth in Ground-based SDA and missions for core T10 customers. Act as a liaison to SSI Division growth initiatives, advocating for the interests of the SDS BA.
- Cultivate relationships with partners, consultants, and subcontractors to gain insights and forge alliances that position L3Harris for capturing emerging opportunities. Scout for new markets, untapped needs, and potential pursuits or campaigns relevant to the SDS BA.
- Pinpoint opportunities that align with pre-defined SDS campaign goals and facilitate the handover from early-stage Business Development activities to later-stage BD or Capture Management. Strategically prioritize customer interactions, involving Senior Management when appropriate.
- Define staffing plans for all SDS pursuits, focusing on assignments for BD and Capture Managers reporting directly to and indirectly to BA BD Lead.
- Manage annual discretionary budget to conduct all BD and Capture activities to achieve BA financial objectives.
- Participate in L3Harris procedural meetings pertaining to all phases of the Stage / Gate process including those conducted in response to an RFP.
- Support the collection and analysis of competitive intelligence to deepen L3Harris's understanding of customer needs and competitor strategies. Aid in the analysis of Government and Customer Budget data to inform strategic decisions.
- Provide supervisory support to BD and Capture Manager direct reports including timecard and vacation approvals, Performance Management reviews, Career Development planning, periodic 1 : 1s.
- Promote a culture of business acumen that adopts a strategic and proactive stance in aiding business area leaders to identify, actively chase, and secure new contracts. Assist capture teams by providing competitive assessments and crafting win strategies.
- Represent L3Harris Corporation at customer meetings, Industry related meetings and conferences. Collaborate with related functions to advance business pursuits and advocacy including marketing, communications, government relations, business development leaders, and capture teams
Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.Secret US Security ClearancePreferred Additional Skills :
