Job Title : Lead IT Project Manager

Location : New York, NY (Hybrid – onsite Tues, Wed, Thurs)

Contract Duration : ASAP Start – 12 / 31 / 2026 (18 months)

Pay Range : $80 - $90 / HR, paid weekly.

Schedule : 8 : 00 AM – 5 : 00 PM

Education : College Degree

Experience : 10+ years in IT project management

Role Overview :

We are seeking a seasoned Lead IT Project Manager to drive a critical data migration initiative from a legacy platform to Azure Databricks . This 18-month project is already underway and involves managing vendor relationships, cross-functional teams, and complex data migration activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Agile project management, cloud migration projects, and vendor management, coupled with strong communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage the full project lifecycle for data migration and cloud platform initiatives.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and coordinate with workstream leads and business stakeholders.
  • Maintain backlogs, user stories, task boards, and monitor progress against KPIs.
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues effectively to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and develop contingency plans.
  • Ensure vendor performance aligns with project objectives and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct project evaluations to capture lessons learned and implement improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

  • Project Management Expertise : Strong knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies; PMP or Agile certification preferred.
  • Technical Skills : Experience with data migration , cloud platforms (Azure Databricks) , and tools like Jira or ADO . Understanding of software development processes and data management principles.
  • Communication : Excellent verbal and written skills for stakeholder engagement and team collaboration.
  • Leadership : Ability to motivate, guide, and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills : Able to analyze issues quickly, make data-driven decisions, and propose effective solutions.
  • Time Management : Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain schedules, and track KPIs.
  • Negotiation & Vendor Management : Skilled in managing vendor relationships, negotiating agreements, and ensuring deliverables meet expectations.
  • Business Knowledge : Insurance / reinsurance domain knowledge is a plus.
  • Candidate Profile :

    We are looking for a S enior IT Project Manager who :

  • Has 10+ years of experience leading complex IT projects, particularly in data migration and cloud initiatives .
  • Has hands-on experience with Agile methodologies , Scrum ceremonies, and project management tools like ADO or Jira .
  • Is comfortable managing vendors , cross-functional teams, and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
  • Can analyze project metrics, mitigate risks, and resolve issues proactively .
  • Possesses strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills , with the ability to balance technical knowledge and business insight.
  • Ideally has exposure to insurance or financial services projects .
  • Thrives in a hybrid work environment and can start immediately or on short notice.
  • Working Conditions :

  • May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment.
  • The ability to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Use of computers and technology.
