BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE) :

• High School Diploma
• Shipyard or heavy manufacturing experience
• Strong communication and accountability
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Machine Shop Foreman (Machinist Foreman) oversees and coordinates all machinery department activities and provides leadership and direction to support more than 1,000 employees, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work.

Direct and oversee new construction and repair projects

Train, mentor, and evaluate employees

Manage scheduling, timekeeping, and performance reviews

Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company policies

Coordinate purchasing of machinery parts and materials

Monitor progress, resolve issues, and manage budgets

Promote a professional and collaborative work environment

Directly manage 10-20 employees

Hire, train, and develop staff

Provide feedback, coaching, and accountability

Strong communication and leadership

Team building and collaboration

Process improvement and accountability

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE) :

3+ years management and / or machinery background

Journeyman or equivalent certification

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and time-tracking systems

Familiarity with ABS, USCG, NEC, IEEE 45 standards

REQUIRED EDUCATION :

HSD / GED
