Behavioral Safety Specialists

The Behavioral Health Unit (BHU), assists in providing a safe environment for the BHU residents and staff and secure the facility’s unit daily throughout the unit and in the event of a behavioral crisis involving residents that are an imminent danger or harm to themselves or others.

All safety specialists personnel must recognize and identify residents who are escalating into a crisis or risk behavior situation and attempt to de-esculate and diffuse the situation with adherence to safety protocols, regulatory standards and CPI protocols;

All safety specialists personnel must provide constant observation and monitoring of all residents in the BHU common areas and conduct safety checks and identify potential hazards;

All safety specialists personnel must assist with safety searches and inventory for resident’s safety.

All safety specialists personnel must report daily at the end of the shift to the oncoming safety specialists personnel the daily behavioral incidents that require monitoring.
