Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry unit requiring Level 1 trauma experience and night shift availability.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care hospital on the Cardiac Telemetry (Tower 7) unitCare for post-op cardiovascular surgery and telemetry patients, including CABG, MVR, STEMI, HF, fundoplication, VATS decortication, and vascular repairsNurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 3 or 1 : 412-hour night shifts with self-scheduling optionsMust work a minimum of 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule blockRequired to work 2 out of 4 major holidaysNo on-call or standby requirementsMay float to other applicable areas as neededUnit uses Cerner EMR systemGE telemetry monitoring equipment used; tele techs monitor off-unitOne PCT supports the 16-bed unitRT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannulaResponsibilities include telemetry monitoring, titrating cardiac drips, and providing care for post-surgical cardiac patientsTravelers must complete a pass / fail SIMs lab on day 1 of orientation, covering sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changesFailure to pass the required testing after two attempts will result in ineligibility for future assignments in the region for 6 monthsRN must wear navy blue scrubs, which are not provided by the facilityMen must be clean-shaven for fit testing and all staff must have natural hair color and no facial piercingsHoliday coverage required, with 2 major holidays per assignment blockFloating to other similar units may occur as neededRequirements
Active state or Compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedCurrent BLS certification required and must be active at time of consideration; pending certifications not acceptedMinimum 2 years of RN experience requiredLevel 1 trauma experience requiredMust be able to titrate drips including Heparin, Cardizem, and AmiodaroneCompetency in post-op cardiovascular surgery patient care highly recommendedAbility to interpret common cardiac rhythms requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance; two attempts allowedDriver's license is required for address verification; must live at least 50 miles from the facilityMust provide two professional references : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsReturning candidates may not have been directly employed by the health system or its affiliates within the past yearBenefits
