Vendor Briefing Document : Payroll Specialist Resmed Position Overview

Resmed is seeking a Payroll Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity. The role is critical to the payroll operations team, which supports over 3,000 employees across the U.S. and Canada. The team is lean, highly collaborative, and handles payroll, benefits, taxes, LOA, and audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full-cycle payroll processing using ADP .
  • Manual payroll calculations including overtime , final pay , and PTO payouts .
  • Understanding and applying state-specific labor laws , especially California .
  • Creating and validating payroll inputs and outputs .
  • Troubleshooting and correcting system errors (e.g., ADP quirks).
  • Generating manual checks when necessary.
  • Reviewing timecards and ensuring accurate hours for salaried and hourly employees.

Required Qualifications

  • ADP experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to calculate payroll manually.
  • Deep understanding of payroll fundamentals and state labor laws .
  • Ability to work independently and validate own work.
  • Experience with high-volume payroll environments.

  • Must be a self-starter with foundational payroll knowledge.
  • Should be able to "make the peanut butter & jelly sandwich" without needing step-by-step instructions-i.e., demonstrate initiative and problem-solving.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced , collaborative team.
  • Open to learning from mistakes and improving continuously.
  • Logistics

  • Remote work is acceptable, but candidates must work Pacific Time hours .
  • Candidates can be located anywhere in the U.S. as long as they align with PST.
  • Full-time schedule : 8 : 00 AM 5 : 00 PM PST.
  • Start Date : ASAP.
  • Contract Duration : 6 months with potential for conversion based on performance.
  • Pay Rate : Targeting BR0 / hour , based on previous successful hire.
  • Interview Process

  • Panel Interview (30 45 minutes) with Anna and 3 team members.
  • Final Interview (30 minutes) with Sherry for final review.

  • No vacation allowed during year-end and holiday periods due to audits and payroll deadlines.

  • Job Description :

    The primary role of Financial Shared Services function is to provide a daily operational and documentation support related to account payables / receivables, invoice processing, payroll etc. Key deliverables include, but not limited to, processing various time and non-time related payments and employee expense management. Accurately computing and documenting all time and labor changes. Reviewing and posting receipts, reconciliations and journal entries.

    The primary objective of Payroll specialization within Financial Shared Services Job Family is to process salaries and wages for ResMed employees accurately and timely.

    Key responsibilities may include partnering with outsourced / external providers to ensure effective end to end processing; compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements in relation to payroll administration; responding to queries internally and externally; preparation and provision of payroll reporting.

    Performs work in a specialized area of expertise that requires knowledge of fundamental themes, principles and concepts. Typically requires a university degree or equivalent work experience.

    Responsibilities might include :

    (1) Performing routine professional-based activities (early in career)

    (2) Contributing to and managing projects (mid-career)

    (3) Providing advice / direction in primary areas of expertise (specialist and expert)
