Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years of experience and active licensure for an acute care setting, with both inpatient and outpatient coverage needed.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an acute care hospital providing both inpatient and outpatient occupational therapy services
  • Day shift with 8-hour shifts from 8 : 00am to 4 : 30pm and some 12-hour shifts from 7 : 00am to 7 : 00pm
  • Weekend coverage is required, working either every Saturday or every Sunday
  • Expected to participate in holiday rotation with permanent staff, typically covering one major and one minor holiday
  • Patient populations include orthopedic, neurological, pediatric, medical, cardiac, bariatric, ICU, and sub-acute / vented cases
  • Outpatient clinic locations include Hueme and Oxnard, with diverse populations including ortho, neuro, peds, and lymphedema
  • EMR system used is Cerner
  • Floor-specific orientation provided over three shifts
  • May float as first to cover additional needs as required
  • Provide therapy to a variety of patients including those with spinal cord injuries, stroke, brain injuries, and general medical / surgical cases
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary therapy team including OT, PT, and Speech
  • No rehab aides or OTAs / PTAs are present on the unit
  • Facility provides a uniform polo; khakis or black pants are required
  • Returning candidates must not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
  • In select states, candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered for travel positions
  • Requirements

  • Active Occupational Therapist license for the relevant state or compact (NLC); license required if applicable
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Occupational Therapy experience
  • Current BLS certification is required
  • Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
  • Two professional references required, including one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Experience in general inpatient, rehab, or outpatient therapy settings preferred
  • Experience with swallow studies is preferred but not required
