Position Overview
Are you an experienced fiber optics professional looking for the next step in your career? As a Senior Aerial Construction Technician – Fiber Optics , you'll take on a leadership role in the field, overseeing and performing complex installations, maintenance, and repairs of overhead fiber lines. This hands-on position involves stringing and maintaining fiber optic cables, including pulling, tensioning, stranding, and spacing lines, as well as executing pole transfers, strand building, lashing, make-readies, and equipment mounting. Working within both communication and power spaces, you'll use your expertise to troubleshoot issues, enhance operational efficiency, and guide team members in completing critical projects. What You'll Do
- Safely perform work in communication and energized spaces
- Inspect, mobilize, and operate a bucket truck from the cab
- Record and report the sequential foot marks by the operator or groundman
- Responsible for framing poles
- Pull cable, strand, fiber, and lash, for extended periods of time
- Provide framing and attachment hardware for operator, jack down guys, pull lasher
- Monitor basic gauges to determine tension and pressure on the cable lines
- Monitor cable during installs for appropriate tension during critical turning points and transitions
- Identify the location of and direct the navigation of the crew into Energized Spaces
- Read, interpret, and modify design packages
- Oversee 3rd party optical ground wire (OPGW) installation
- Lead, mentor, and train field personnel
