Energy Engineer Job Summary The Energy Engineer is a critical member of our team, responsible for designing, evaluating, and presenting energy-related projects to reduce consumption and costs for our clients. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and analytical skills, as well as a passion for delivering creative and sustainable energy solutions. Key responsibilities Conduct on-site energy audits and assessments to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reduction. Analyze energy usage data, energy bills, and system specifications to establish baselines and determine energy savings potential. Develop, evaluate, and recommend energy-efficient technologies, including upgrades to HVAC, lighting, and building automation systems. Perform energy modeling, measurement, and verification (M&V) to quantify the impact of energy conservation measures. Prepare detailed engineering reports, cost estimates, and client presentations. Manage the development, design, and construction of energy conservation projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. Collaborate with clients, project managers, contractors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle. Research emerging energy technologies, market trends, and regulatory changes to provide innovative and sustainable solutions. Provide training and technical consultation to clients and internal staff on energy management best practices. Qualifications and skills Education : Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field. Experience : 3–5 years of experience in energy engineering, energy management, or a related role. Experience at an ESCO is highly desirable. Location : Must be located and live within the State of Nebraska. Technical expertise : Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, lighting, and building automation systems. Proficiency in energy modeling software (e.g., EnergyPlus, eQUEST). Experience with measurement and verification protocols. Familiarity with industry standards like ASHRAE and LEED. Certifications : Professional Engineer (PE) license, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or other relevant certifications are a plus. Soft skills : Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities. A proactive and adaptable mindset with a passion for sustainability. Work environment This is a full-time position. Work will be performed in both an office setting and on-site at client facilities. Remote office is optional depending on circumstances.
