We have an exciting opportunity for a Gateway GN&C Performance Engineer  to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX .

If selected you will :

  • Verify GNC system requirements compliance through review of analysis and test reports, including assessment of navigation sensor performance, trajectory dispersions, and other GN&C parameters
  • Verify fault tolerance safety requirements compliance through review of GN&C-related hazard reports and associated verification evidence. Communicate uncovered issues to a Safety Review Panel.
  • Identify and recommend solutions to GN&C / Rendezvous & Proximity Operations performance issues
  • Communicate status of compliance reviews to Gateway Program Management
  • Conduct assessments on delivered Visiting Vehicle GN&C data
  • Provide performance compliance feedback
  • Provide Monte Carlo trajectory analyses feedback using independent 6DOF simulations
  • Provide engineering inputs to operational products (flight rules and on-orbit demonstration plans)
  • Maintain relationships with a diverse technical team, including personnel from engineering, safety, flight operations, crew office, and visiting vehicle providers
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications :

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Experience with orbital mechanics and GN&C principles
  • Knowledge in the development of GN&C algorithms and analysis of spacecraft system performance
  • Experience with design, verification, testing, and operation of GN&C hardware and software
  • Experience with the development of space system requirements and documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable successful performance in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
  • Ability to prepare written documents for verbal presentation at engineering meetings
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office collaboration tools : Teams, Webex, SharePoint
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • MS in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on GN&C, flight controls, and orbital mechanics
  • Familiarity with spacecraft docking systems
  • Knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standards and requirements, including safety and fault tolerance
  • Experience with NASA flight operations and procedures
  • Familiarity with NASA / JSC documentation databases and SharePoint sites
  • Experience with LINUX, Python, and C++
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink toolboxes
  • Experience with NASA Trick simulation architecture
  • Experience with JEOD (JSC Engineering Orbital Dynamics) modeling package
  • Experience with Git / GitLab
