Overview

The Trade Sales Consultant is an outside sales position responsible for building the Pella brand within the trade industry as their premier choice for window and door solutions. Achieve individual sales goals through a relational selling model throughout all active Pella product offerings. Provide well-rounded solutions, market expertise, and partnership by understanding customer needs and developing relationships with builders, contractors, architects, professional remodelers and trade organizations. Proactively originate new customer relationships through networking, referrals and face-to-face meetings. Help customers grow their business and offer a single point of contact for their ongoing needs. Continually strives for 100% "Very Satisfied" customers, growth as measured by market share / net sales and profitability.

Note : This description reflects the duties of the Trade Sales Consultant in the Waco, Temple, and Killeen markets.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Spend over 50% of time at customer sites generating account growth with planned quality meetings.
  • Prospecting to develop a book of business.
  • Independently set own work hours.
  • Networking - lead and referral generation.
  • Actively represent Pella at company-sponsored events, professional group invitations, trade association meetings, and home shows.
  • Generate sales by acquiring new customers while building loyalty within existing relationships.
  • Respond to client concerns with independent decision making and strive for first-time resolution.
  • Maintain expertise on products / services and stay informed of the competitive landscape.
  • Engage in a consultative sales approach to recommend products and total solutions with follow-up to satisfy needs.
  • Ensure quotes and orders follow company procedures; educate customers on installation guidelines and measurements.
  • Leverage internal teams for product requirements and act as central point of contact for clients.
  • Adhere to the Trade Selling Process in all sales interactions.
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure after-sale service and installations.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Receivable to address billing / payment issues.
  • Utilize CRM tools to manage customer interactions and proactive communications.
  • Occasionally work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, to serve customers.

  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through; proficient in Microsoft Office and smart devices; able to learn internal software.

    Education And / or Experience

    Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and / or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Individual's motor vehicle record must comply with company requirements. Ability to manage multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions and prioritize responsibilities. Prior sales experience with home builders, contractors, or architects is a plus.

    Language And Communication Skills

    Ability to read and analyze contracts and work documents. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to verbally present information and respond to questions from customers, managers, and the general public.

    Professional Skills

    Must present a clean and neat appearance and abide by the company dress code, serving as a role model for others.

    Reasoning Abilities

    Ability to solve practical and arithmetic problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.

    Physical Demands

    Regularly drive, stand, walk, sit; use hands; reach; talk and hear. Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include various sight needs. Noise level ranges from low to moderate depending on environment.

    Travel

    Local travel is required; must be able to drive to showrooms, job sites, and customer locations.
