Maintenance Technician I
Summary
The Maintenance Technician I is primarily responsible for facility maintenance including preventive maintenance, machine repair, tool repair and maintenance of the general facility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Observe and follow safety rules as prescribed by the safety policy. Completes an expected amount of work based on time studies in accordance with schedule. Able to operate all necessary equipment in a proficient manner.
Adhere to all safety policies and best practices.
Perform general maintenance with a specialization in three functional areas or more (HVAC, Electrical, Welding, precision machining, machine repair, fabrication, etc.)
Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
Adhere to the established preventative maintenance schedule
Adhere to daily reactive maintenance assignments
Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists and work sheets.
Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
Identify spare and replacement parts, and find where to purchase parts.
All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Certificate or credential specialization in Electrical and one or more functional areas or more (Welding,
Precision Machining, Machine Repair, Fabrication, Arc Flash)
High school Diploma, GED, Technical / Trade School or equivalent experience
Prior manufacturing work experience in operating machinery and using various hand tools
Must be able to read and interpret measuring devices (tape measures, calipers, scales, meters)
Must be able to work in the US
Equipment Maintenance - Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Repairing - Repair machines or systems using the needed tools.
Troubleshooting - Determine causes of operating errors and implement corrective action
Active Listening - Give full attention to what other people are saying, take the time to understand the points being made, ask questions as appropriate, and be mindful not to interrupt.
Installation Install equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
Equipment Selection - Determine the tools and equipment needed to perform the job.
Critical Thinking - Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Reading Comprehension - Understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Operation Monitoring - Monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machines are functioning properly.

Teamwork - Able to understand role on team and to work directly with supervisors and managers as well as peers and other coworkers.
Able to perform complex mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
Basic welding, machining, and shop skills are desired.

During the performance of his / her work duties, the incumbent will be required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and will frequently lift up to 25 pounds such as moving parts from material storage and moving parts in and out of work area.

The employee works in a factory environment and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. He / she is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
