Overview
Our client is hiring a Mechanical Product Designer to join the ME team and help build the next generation of humanoid robots. We're looking for an engineer who can design tightly packaged, high-performance systems that ship at scale. Think : the complexity of an Apple Watch or AirPods—but for robots operating in tough, real-world environments.
What you'll do
- Own design of highly compact, tightly integrated mechanical systems (starting with the robot hand - one of the most complex parts)
- Create CAD drawings, assemblies, and detailed specifications across a variety of materials
- Design for manufacturing at scale : injection molding, die casting, CNC machining, sheet metal, composites
- Engineer robust, precise components that can withstand demanding environments
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, and industrial design teams to ensure seamless integration
- Iterate quickly from concept ? prototype ? production, refining designs for both function and manufacturability
What we're looking for
5+ years in mechanical product design, ideally with consumer electronics or robotics at scaleExperience designing tightly packaged systems (Logitech, Apple, wearable / handheld devices are great parallels)Strong DFMA background and comfort working across multiple manufacturing processesPortfolio showing CAD models, drawings, and real products shippedDeep understanding of mechanical engineering principles + materials selectionAbility to balance engineering rigor with product-level design constraintsSeniority level
