A Brief Overview
Summary : A career as a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologist is exciting for those who are passionate about health care, patient comfort and saving lives. As a technologist, you are asked to operate MRI scanners and to ensure that the procedure produces quality images and information for the health care professional to make an accurate diagnosis. You have the chance to work and interact directly with patients as you ensure that they are comfortable and calm. Utilize your medical knowledge by interviewing patients, explaining the procedure and placing the patient in the appropriate spot on the table. Technologists are also organized, detail oriented people who are familiar with the anatomical area that is being scanned and the patient's history. Develop relationships with patients as you help diagnose their condition as an MRI technologist.

Performs MRI scans as directed by radiologistPatient care during visit to MRIAnswers phones and arranges schedule for in-patient requestAssures a safe and clean environmentMaintains knowledge of technical skillsInitiates and maintains positive relationships with patients / customers, and co-workersTakes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environmentDisplays commitment to the mission of the hospital and its valuesDemonstrates successful technical / patient skills by efficiently implementing special procedure technology in the MR areaUses administrative skills to contribute to the successful operation of the departmentCollaborates effectively and in a timely manner with co-workers and clinical staffProvides age-specific care to patients from neonates through geriatrics.Additional Responsibilities

Education Qualifications
Associate's Degree completion of an accredited 2 year program in a school of Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology (Required) OROther Accredited Program : Completion of an accredited program in a school of Sonography with current ARDMS certificate (Required) andHigh School Equivalent / GED (Required)Experience Qualifications
2+ years MR Scanning Experience (Preferred )Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of sterile and surgical procedures. (Required proficiency)Knowledge of MRI equipment and safety in MRI environment. (Required proficiency)Knowledge of radiology information system.
