We're seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to ensure the reliable, efficient, and safe operation of all electrical and control systems across our manufacturing facility. This role leads automation initiatives, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement projects to optimize production performance, product quality, and energy efficiency.

Base pay range : $95,000.00 / yr - $120,000.00 / yr

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Systems & Maintenance

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, motors, drives, and control panels.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults, PLCs, power distribution, and instrumentation systems.
  • Maintain and update electrical schematics and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical and safety codes.

Automation & Controls

  • Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar), HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Support automation of production lines, including mixing, freezing, filling, and packaging systems.
  • Develop and implement control logic to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain consistent product quality.
  • Collaborate with process engineers and operations teams to drive process improvements.
  • Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead or support electrical and automation projects, including upgrades and new line installations.
  • Partner with vendors and contractors to design and commission automation solutions.
  • Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM programs to enhance reliability and performance.
  • Optimize energy usage and promote sustainability through system improvements.
  • Maintenance Excellence

  • Implement a data-driven maintenance approach, focusing on condition-based repairs.
  • Evaluate costs, availability, and impact to decide between "run-to-failure" or replacement strategies.
  • Ensure maintenance supports production priorities and upholds all food safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date equipment records for traceability and compliance.
  • Budget & Cost Control

  • Manage maintenance budgets responsibly, ensuring costs stay within planned limits.
  • Prioritize spending decisions based on impact, efficiency, and long-term reliability.
  • Performance Metrics

  • Reduced downtime and equipment-related product rejections.
  • Balanced planned vs. reactive maintenance ratios.
  • Improved production targets and cost efficiency.
  • Year-over-year improvement in safety and quality KPIs.
  • Fast-paced manufacturing setting with exposure to cold, wet, or humid conditions.
  • Involves standing, lifting, and repetitive motion for extended periods.
  • Requires adherence to strict food safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Team-oriented environment with close collaboration across production areas.
