Salary Range : $44,286.17 - $54,418.23 annually Posting open until 10 / 17 / 2025 General Description and Classification Standards Manages multiple kitchen operations within the Atlanta Detention Center. This position is in charge of the operational responsibilities for the kitchen. Supervision Received Works under the direction of a Food Service Manager or a Food Service Supervisor and follows standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Supervises kitchen staff; oversees training and operations of food service. Oversees the appropriate quantities of food is prepared and served according to the facility needs. Ensures team members are adequately trained and capable for performing the tasks; reports to the Food Service Supervisor. Maintains an accurate inventory advance of preparation of planned menu schedule. Ensures ordering and all required reports are submitted timely. Coordinates all preventative maintenance programs to protect the physical assets of the kitchen. Reports any maintenance issues to the appropriate person timely. Manages the food service operation according to departmental policy and procedures as well as required local, state, and federal laws. Ensures that food items are stored in a safe and hazard-free manner. Plans for special events and functions. Maintains serving schedules to ensure that all food items are served per menu specifications in a safe and appropriate manner according to departmental guidelines. Maintains a sanitary environment following food service. Ensures compliance will all Health Department regulations and codes. Maintains accurate reports of daily and monthly production and activity. Oversees inspections by state or local authorities regarding food service operations. Adheres to all dietary needs and processes to ensure safety from foodborne illness. Ability to stand for long periods of time.Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in supervising or lead in food service environment. Licensures and Certifications ServSafe Certification. Must successfully complete departmental background investigation. Must successfully complete and pass drug / alcohol screening. Preferred Requirements One (1) plus years of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity or similar experience including menu planning and special diet needs and administration is required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
