Description :
Candidates must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing a contract.
Failure to score 80% in two attempts will result in a six-month Do Not Use (DNU) status.
Radius Rule : Candidates may not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the health system within the past year.
Patient ratios in ICU are 1 : 1 to 1 : 2 based on acuity and staffing.
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) ratios are 1 : 3 to 1 : 4.
The unit consists of multiple beds for different types of critical care patients.
Common diagnoses and types of patients include COVID, manual proning, low-level neuro, EVD, DKA, sepsis, and post-surgical cases.
Nurses are required to titrate critical care medications including pressors, paralytics, and sedatives.
Charge nurses may take an assignment as a last resort, but typically two charge nurses will be present.
Hospitalists and intensivists are available 24 / 7.
Nurses are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips using Nihon Khoden monitors.
Scheduling is done four weeks in advance with limited self-scheduling.
Weekend requirements include working two weekend shifts per pay period.
Holiday requirements specify one winter holiday and an eve of another holiday may be required.
Floating to other critical care areas may be necessary based on staff rotations.
Professional scrubs of any color are acceptable, but camouflage scrubs are not permitted.
Unit-specific orientation includes both general hospital orientation and shifts with preceptors.
