Associate Desk Adjuster

The General, a subsidiary of Sentry Insurance, is currently seeking motivated individuals to join our team in an entry-level role focused on property and casualty claims. In this role, you'll play a key part in investigating claims, determining liability, gathering essential information, and reviewing coverage details. As part of your journey, you'll participate in hands-on training to build strong investigation and settlement skills while gaining valuable insight into our company's processes and values. Associates will be based out of our Nashville, TN; El Paso, TX; or Davenport, IA offices following the hybrid work model.

What You'll Do

  • Attends a new employee training program that includes claim processing in various systems, policy and procedures, and company culture and its application to the Claim environment as needed
  • Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting the appropriate parties including insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, special investigation unit, other adjusters, public personnel, etc.
  • Handles files with limited authority based on management discretion.
  • May be required to complete other assignments, job duties, or participate in projects based upon skills, achievements, or experience.

What It Takes

  • Ability to obtain and maintain state specific property and casualty claims licensing as required
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of claim handling processes
  • Customer service or support experience preferred
  • Can meet travel requirements as needed
  • Ability to work in conditions involving sitting / standing

  • Sentry is happy to offer flexibility through a scheduled Hybrid work model. Monday and Friday work from home if you choose to, Tuesday through Thursday you'll work in office.
