Operations Manager, International Desk

About The Role
The Newsroom Operations department of The New York Times is looking for an Operations Manager to support our International desk and the expanding Global team. You will provide important administrative support across all of our International operations. It's a dynamic and important time to join the desk as we expand our footprint globally and navigate new challenges in an ever-changing world. We are looking for a highly organized self-starter capable of handling the demands of a global team in multiple time zones, with dozens of International bureaus, and a staff of more than 200, and you will report directly to the Senior Operations Manager, International.
Responsibilities :
- Perform general administrative tasks to assist editors and the senior operations manager as assigned, including general daily operations
- Be the desks expert scheduler, and troubleshoot weekly coverage needs or changes that arise
- Manage vacations, holidays and sick days and maintain accurate time banks in Workday; proactively communicate issues
- Manage the onboarding of new US-based and international employees
- Assist new employees and help them to get the training and equipment they need
- Facilitate the onboarding of international freelancers / vendors; process invoices and wire transfer requests; work with News Finance to monitor the desks budget
- Work in partnership with other operations and bureau managers globally to ensure collaboration and communication
- Manage departmental events and meetings
- Manage the home leaves and breathers scheduling
- Manage and keep updated the International Assignment Checklist, and other staff documents
- Manage and keep up to date with staffing lists and bureau listing contacts
- Purchase supplies and equipment and ensure the desk has what it needs
- Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
Basic Qualifications :

The annual base pay range for this role is between :
$81,000 - $97,000 USD
