Job Summary

The Plumbing Service & Special Projects Project Manager is responsible for winning new work through effective estimating and client relationships, then delivering successful project outcomes. This role combines business development with project execution, requiring strong technical knowledge, estimating expertise, and leadership skills to manage both customer relationships and field operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Business Development & Estimating (primary focus)

  • Site visits and project scoping - Visit jobsites to assess work scope, identify solutions, and gather information for accurate estimates
  • Estimating and pricing - Develop comprehensive cost estimates for service calls, repairs, retrofits, and special projects
  • Proposal development - Create detailed proposals and bid packages that win work
  • Client relationship building - Cultivate relationships with existing and prospective customers to generate repeat business and referrals

Project Execution & Management

  • Project planning - Develop schedules, coordinate trade manpower, and manage project timelines
  • Cost management - Track job costs, forecast final costs, and manage project profitability
  • Field coordination - Guide crews on plans, specifications, and technical requirements
  • Quality assurance - Conduct site visits to ensure code compliance, workmanship standards, and safety protocols
  • Stakeholder communication - Attend job meetings and maintain effective communication with customers, crews, and project teams
  • Relationship Management

  • Customer satisfaction - Ensure quality outcomes and handle warranty follow-up
  • Vendor / subcontractor management - Source and manage relationships with specialty contractors and equipment suppliers
  • Professional network - Maintain relationships with architects, engineers, general contractors, and building owners
  • Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years plumbing industry experience with expertise in commercial systems, methods, materials, codes, and safety practices (a plus if you are licensed in WI)
  • 2+ years commercial project management experience with demonstrated success in project delivery
  • Proven estimating experience including site assessment, scope development, and competitive pricing
  • Technical proficiency - Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and equipment documentation
  • Software skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, estimating software, and project management tools
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
