Weekend Welding Supervisor – 3-Day Work Week, Full-Time Pay!
Ready to lead with grit and grind ? Klute is looking for a Weekend Welding Supervisor to oversee our fabrication department on a unique Friday–Saturday–Sunday shift . You'll work three 12-hour shifts , enjoy a shift differential , and get paid for 40 hours -plus excellent benefits.
As the Weekend Welding Supervisor, you'll be the go-to leader ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency on the shop floor. You'll collaborate with the weekday team on Fridays, then take the reins to run the shift independently on Saturdays and Sundays.
What you'll do :
Lead a weekend welding team with a focus on safety first
Keep production on track and ensure products meet quality standards
Train, coach, and mentor team members of all experience levels
Perform quality checks and oversee welding equipment
Handle scheduling, reports, and day-to-day personnel needs
Serve as the primary authority figure during all weekend operations
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety – Maintain safe working conditions for all employees and prioritize safety over deadlines.
- Oversee employee's safety both in and out of department to ensure safe methods are used to do tasks
- Interpret, communicate, and enforce company policies and safety regulations with employees
- Ensure equipment is not defective or unsafe and is responsible for coordinating with maintenance and management to resolve problems
- Team with HR / Safety to help train employees on safety policies and procedures
Quality - Ensure products are correctly fabricated and of quality workmanship prior to delivery
Train and coach employees of all different experience levels in work methods and procedures.Inspect products to verify conformance to project drawings and specifications.Oversee welding machines and equipment to ensure quality of operational performance.Operational Excellence - Strives to get product out on time
Apply knowledge of production methods, processes and production capacities and capabilities in the Welding Department.Review production orders and schedules. Reviews specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan welding operations.Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.Initiate personnel actions regarding discipline, promotions, transfers, discharges or corrective actions.Maintain accurate shift reports and communicate critical updates to weekday management teams.Take immediate action in response safety concerns and operational disruptions.Teamwork – Works with direct reports and other employees to create a safe facility, produce quality products and hit customer deadlines
Manage employees in the welding department to ensure they know their responsibilities and are working together in a positive mannerExamine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance and give feedback to team members on how to accomplish work in a better mannerWork with the Production Management and Welding teams to coordinate activities that encourages teamwork amongst all individuals in the department.Work with team members and other managers to find ways of improving safety, quality, and efficiency of the departmentRecommends or initiates plans to motivate department employees to achieve work goals.Resolve worker grievances or submit unsettled grievances to the Human Resources Manager.Determine the appropriate level of decision making that can be done independently on the weekend – and what needs to be pushed up to weekday administration and managementExpected to act as the primary point of contact and authority figure during all weekend operations and resolve conflicts independently.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Education
Associate Degree in manufacturing processes or related field and / or 2 – 4 years' experience in supervisory position.
Experience
AWS / CWI or CWS certification preferredExperience with AISC preferredExcellent interpersonal skills; ability to provide accurate, timely, courteous and professional communication, and a strong desire to reach resolutions.Required knowledge of accepted operational procedures and guidelines.Effective oral and written communication skills and expertise in the areas of human relations skills.Working knowledge of PC based operation systems.Problem solving and planning skills with a focus on the ability to plan, prioritize and execute are essential to the positionFirst Aid / CPR certification (or ability to become First Aid / CPR certified)Other Qualifications and Requirements
