Airport APM Facilities Systems Technician
Help keep one of the world’s most advanced airport transit systems moving. Join the team responsible for the fixed facilities that support the LAX Automated People Mover (APM)—structures, systems, and grounds that must perform around the clock.
About the Role
Working with minimal supervision, you will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the facilities and equipment that enable reliable APM operations. You will partner across trades, apply strict safety practices, and uphold regulatory and company standards.
A Day in This Role
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and structural systems within APM facilities.
- Perform trade tasks such as carpentry and painting to construct, repair, or modify walls, roofs, and office fixtures.
- Complete rounds and facility inspections; create and maintain detailed equipment logs.
- Use blueprints, layouts, and wiring diagrams to guide repairs and installations.
- Troubleshoot complex systems and apply lockout / tagout procedures when required.
- Respond across disciplines—from system diagnostics to emergency responses—ensuring timely, quality outcomes.
- Deliver work safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all standards and policies.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.Proficient in English.Valid driver’s license.Ability to work a 24 / 7 / 365 schedule, including weekends & holidays.Willingness to work variable hours and shifts.Basic mechanical or maintenance experience and confidence using general hand tools.Self-directed, disciplined, and able to handle both downtime and high-pressure situations.Ability to obtain and maintain any certifications required by applicable state and federal regulations for this position.Basic computer literacy, including MS Office.Safety-first mindset; consistently uses appropriate PPE and follows all safety policies, procedures, and practices.Preferred Proficiencies
