Job Responsibilities

The Lead Medical Assistant - Urgent Care - Durant, Oklahoma, is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties, which include assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), performs venipuncture and procedures as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State. Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with the IPM guideline. Prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. Assists in covering the front desk as required. Assists the Practice Manager in leading the clinic to deliver high-quality effective care.

Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics that align with UHS acute care facilities. It also provides select services for the Behavioral Health division of UHS. Through continuing growth, IPM operates in 12 markets across six states and the District of Columbia. Qualifications

PLEASE NOTE : APPLICANTS MUST BE ABLE TO SHOW PROOF OF HS DIPLOMA OR GED FOR THIS POSITION

Education :

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Certified Medical Assistant Program completion

Current BLS / CPR certification required

Work experience :

Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Medical Assistant

Fluency with medical terminology is required.

Experience with the patient check-in and check-out process

Knowledge :

General office procedures

Understand end-of-day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol)

Skills :

Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Abilities :

Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions.

Equipment Operated :

Office equipment such as a fax machine, a copier, and a telephone system

EKG machine, other patient care testing

Work environment :

Works in a well-lighted, OSHA Standard environment

May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases

May be in contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances

Occasionally subject to irregular hours

May be required to wear personal protective equipment as necessary

Mental / Physical Requirements :

Must be able to remain calm and focused in an emergency

Must be able to see with corrective eyewear

Must be able to hear clearly with assistance
