Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Attend all scheduled classes, take thorough, legible notes on class lectures and discussions, and provide copies of notes to the student OA office. Use of a computer, tablet, or other electronic device is required to send copies of notes to the student.
- Read information aloud in a slow, precise manner, speaking clearly either to an audio recorder or directly to a student. Reading assignments must be completed in a timely manner and copies of audio recordings delivered to OA.
- Assist students by writing answers to exams or other written assignments exactly as dictated by the student. Write the student's words legibly and provide a copy of the scribed materials to the Test Center, OA, the instructor, or the student.
- Sign a FERPA release permitting access to educational records to confirm the required GPA, credit, and disciplinary standing.
- Work is generally performed on the College campus unless otherwise specified; employees must be Maryland residents or residents of the contiguous states.
- Note : Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position.

If you apply on or after November 1 of the current year, your application will remain active until December 31 of the following calendar year.
Qualifications
Required Education : Successful completion of six credits of college-level courses, including English Composition, with a minimum GPA of 2.0.Required Experience : N / ARequired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities : Accessibility Assistants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.Preferred Qualifications : Preference will be given to currently enrolled HCC students.General Work Schedule
Hours vary based on the needs of the department. The hours of part-time, as-needed employees are limited to a total of less than 500 hours in each fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
