Salary : Position Hours
8 : 00 am to 5 : 30 pm, Monday through Thursday and 8 : 00 am to 12 : 00 pm on Friday
Minimum Job Duties
Under supervision of the Commissions Staff Engineer, performs a variety of work including administrative work relating to engineering design, cross connection control and construction observation / inspection of utility projects associated with the Commissions system.
- Performs data management and filing support for engineering
- Assist with administrative duties for the Commissions Cross- Connection / Backflow Program
- Review and edit engineering documents such as letters, reports, tables, etc. to ensure quality control and consistency
- Assist with inspections of Commission and private construction projects for compliance with plans, specifications and regulations
- Collect and enter information into the Commissions GIS system
- Participate in pre-construction conferences with contractors
- Correspond with developers, engineers, and contractors with regards to potential and ongoing projects
- Assists with overseeing special projects related to the Commissions Engineering Department
Minimum Qualifications
High School diplomaPossession of a valid S.C. Drivers LicenseAbility to understand and carry out both written and oral instructions relative to general utility systems construction workAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors, and the publicAbility to make decisions using good sound judgment in matters pertaining to construction proceduresProficient in using Windows operating system, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer, and OutlookMust have knowledge and understanding of appropriate safety procedures and be able to respond in emergency situationsProfessional demeanor and good communication skills with the ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrates strong organizational skills (record keeping, time management, follow-up, etc.)Strong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent attention to detail, sense of urgency, and an ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality and accuracy of workStrong interpersonal and customer service skills requiredAbility to multi-task, prioritize, and deal with interruptions while meeting timely deadlinesBeneficial Skills & Experience
Two (2) year degree in Engineering Technology, Business Administration or other related associates degree
Greater than two (2) years of experience
