Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Labor and Delivery Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 19 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Position Overview UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center is seeking experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurses for night shifts on their LDRP unit. Nurses will provide comprehensive perinatal care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients in a fast-paced environment. This is a Level II NICU facility averaging 105 deliveries per month. Assignments follow AWHONN staffing standards : Early labor / induction : 1 : 2 Active labor : 1 : 1 C-section : 1 : 1 Triage : 1 : 4 Postpartum : 1 : 4 Candidates must be comfortable floating within the facility and must not be local (50 miles from the hospital). RNs must also be able to float to postpartum, triage, or nursery settings as required. Certifications & Requirements RN License : Active Maryland RN License or Compact License – Required at time of submission Certifications Required : BLS (AHA only) NRP (AAP or AHA only) Preferred Certifications : ACLS AWHONN (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) STABLE Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) Experience : Minimum 2 years of recent L&D experience required Charting System : Epic – Preferred Travel Experience : Not required Community Hospital Experience : Preferred Teaching Hospital Experience : Not required Skills & Competencies Labor & Delivery : Vaginal deliveries, C-sections, high-risk deliveries Triage & initial assessment Fetal heart monitoring (external / internal, IUPC use) Amnioinfusion, Pitocin, magnesium sulfate therapy Assist with forceps / vacuum extraction Scrub and circulate for C-sections APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation Use of radiant warmers, newborn thermoregulation Postpartum : Fundus, lochia, and incision care Breastfeeding and lactation support Discharge education to parents Infant hypoglycemia and phototherapy (preferred) Antepartum : NSTs, dilation checks, sterile vaginal exams High-risk pregnancy management (pre-eclampsia, PROM, diabetes, substance abuse) Equipment & Procedures : PCA pumps, epidural anesthesia monitoring Central line / PICC line maintenance (preferred) IV therapy, infusion pumps, blood product administration Facility / Unit Details Unit Beds : 32 beds total 14 LDRP rooms 9 overflow beds (postpartum, antepartum, NAS, bili babies) 2 triage bays 2 antenatal testing bays 2 ORs and 2 PACU bays 9-bed Special Care Nursery (Level II NICU) Patient Age Groups : Infants, Neonates, Adolescents, Adults Deliveries Per Month : Average 105 Float Required : Yes – Must float to postpartum, triage, nursery as needed Weekend Coverage : Every other weekend Scheduling Type : Self-scheduling About HonorVet Technologies HonorVet Technologies : Pioneering Purpose, Empowering Heroes Founded in 2015, HonorVet Technologies stands as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) , proudly certified by NaVOBA and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs .
