Essential Functions :
- Efficiently and accurately stage trailers for loading and transport while ensuring proper temperature control to the refrigerated units.
- Perform checks on trailers and trucks to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Collaborates with warehouse personnel using safety traffic control lighting system to move equipment from one location to another, according to door assignments.
- Work with the Transportation Management team to ensure proper equipment is used for routes.
- Perform checks on trailers and trucks to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Work closely with the Maintenance provider to ensure repairs are finished before using the equipment. Report any mechanical issues promptly for repair or maintenance.
- Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks.
- Fuel and set proper temperatures to the refrigerated units.
- Maintain an organized and orderly lot for easy truck and trailer movement and efficiency.
Competencies :
Proficiency in operating yard trucks, trailers, and other equipment safely and efficientlyAbility to maneuver vehicles in tight spaces and follow traffic patterns within the yardUnderstanding of loading and unloading procedures, trailer hookups, and brake systemsProper understanding and operation of refrigeration equipmentMust be able to read, write, and speak English to communicate verbally and in writing, bilingual a plusAble to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as neededAbility to follow directions and willing to learnRequirements :
Valid CDL Class A licenseAt least 21 years of ageAt least 1 year of truck and trailer backing experienceNo more than 2 preventable accidents in the past 3 yearsNo more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years and proven safe PSP scoreCompensation :
