Senior Producer, Original Short Form Video, NBC News Digital
NBC News Digital Video Productions is seeking a seasoned journalist to manage a small team of producers who will create content for NBC News’ digital app with a focus on its new subscription product. We’re looking for a news junkie who lives across a diverse range of news platforms, can oversee content in a variety of formats, and is especially versed in producing news videos in vertical.
Overview
The role requires experience in managing, helping with story selection, giving notes on videos, and vetting scripts / video treatments. The ideal candidate is editorially strong, adept at programming, and a capable leader who can identify opportunities in the news cycle to create distinct, highly compelling content with NBC News anchors and correspondents for subscribers. A mobile-first mindset is essential to drive engagement on the NBC News app.
Responsibilities
- Manage a small team of video creators for original content for the NBC News app
- Identify key news moments and strategize coverage for tentpole events in existing or new video franchises
- Maintain overall quality, editorial value, cadence and execution of video and live content
- Partner with executive producers, editors, correspondents, reporters and network talent to identify stories strong for vertical video and guide visual execution
- Guide the team during breaking news and big events
- Provide clear and constructive notes on scripts and videos in edit to ensure editorial strength and standards
- Ensure smooth workflow, deadlines, cadence, and programming strategy
- Monitor analytics and performance to inform iterative strategy
- Collaborate with post-production on graphics and production
- Experiment and evolve video franchises, story selection, formats, and visual styles
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant experience7+ years of experience in video production3+ years of management experienceExperience working on a social or Direct-To-Consumer platformStrong ability to interpret analytics and provide feedback on content performanceProficient in pitching, writing, researching, shooting, and editingExperience collaborating with anchors, correspondents and newsroom stakeholdersExperience shooting on professional Sony / Canon systems and iPhoneFluency in Adobe Premiere and other post-production toolsFlexibility to respond to breaking news outside regular hoursDesired Characteristics
