Overview
As a Controls Engineer, you will be the subject matter expert for the control systems that are the backbone of our production processes. From initial project concept through post-launch support, you will design, develop, and improve the essential automation that keeps our operations running. You will provide critical expertise in tooling design, troubleshoot complex issues to minimize downtime, and help establish the standards that will define our future success.
This role is perfect for a self-motivated engineer who can work with minimal direction, make independent decisions, and guide technical teams through challenges.
Schedule : B Shift | Tuesday to Friday, 5 : 30 p.m. to 6 : 00 a.m.
Base pay range
$45.00 / hr - $50.00 / hr
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development : Create, document, and develop control systems for new and existing automated assembly processes.
- PLC / HMI Programming : Program Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, SLC 500) and HMIs (PanelView) for manual and automated cells.
- Technical Integration : Integrate and network PLCs and PCs (EthernetIP, TCP / IP), DC Torque Systems (Bosch, Atlas Copco), and Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence).
- Project Management : Plan, coordinate, and implement assigned projects, including managing capital investment budgets and timelines.
- Process Improvement : Drive lean manufacturing concepts (5S, OEE, TPM) and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and automation.
- Vendor Management : Serve as the main technical interface with automation and capital equipment vendors.
- Support & Mentorship : Provide high-level support for controls-related production issues and offer guidance to Maintenance Technicians to strengthen the team's skill set.
- Documentation : Ensure all equipment and process documentation (manuals, drawings, BOMs) is accurately transferred and maintained.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Robotics, Computer Programming, or a related field.Experience : A minimum of four (4) years of experience in a Controls Engineer role.PLC Programming : 4+ years of experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming (RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500).HMI Programming : 4+ years of experience with HMI programming (e.g., PanelView Plus).Robotics : 4+ years of hands-on experience with robotic programming and controls.Systems Knowledge : Strong understanding of EthernetIP / TCP / IP, DC Torque Systems, and Vision Systems.Software Proficiency : 4+ years of experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel).Automotive Experience : Experience working with assembly requirements for automotive component systems and JIT / ILVS manufacturing is highly preferred.Seniority level
