• Ambulatory / Outpatient experience
• Inpatient experience
• Pain Management experience
• Pediatric PACU experience
• Phase I PACU experience
• Phase II Recovery experience

Description :

We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).

This unit commonly sees cases related to spinal surgeries, joint replacements, general surgeries, robotic surgeries, stroke interventions, gastrointestinal procedures, and gastrectomy.

There are no weekends required except when on call.

The on-call requirement is one 24-hour weekend per month and one overnight on-call each week.

Nurses may need to float to the pre-op area as necessary.

Scrubs will be provided.

First-time travelers are welcome if they have over 2 years of ICU experience.

The unit utilizes an Omnicell medication system and Meditech Expanse for documentation.

Required skills and experience include :

• Management of various surgical patients, including those undergoing bariatric, endoscopic, and vascular surgeries.
• Strong knowledge of pain assessment and management protocols.
• Ability to recognize and manage dysrhythmias.
• Experience with arterial line management and pulmonary artery line monitoring.
• Familiarity with post-cath lab, post-operative care, and pre-operative assessments.
• Competence in administering various types of anesthesia and related patient care.
• Understanding of hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia protocols, medication reconciliation, and discharge instructions.
• Strong communication skills for lab value interpretation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Additional skills that would be beneficial include :

• Cardiac and respiratory management experience.
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and malignant hyperthermia protocols.
• Ability to perform airway assessments and placement of oral / nasal airways.
• Experience with central line care and management, blood product administration, and care of ventilated patients.

Candidates should be prepared to work closely with interdisciplinary support services including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.

The position requires providing excellent care to diverse patient demographics, including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics.
