Position Overview

The Asphalt Paving Foreman, responsible for the supervision of their Paving and Construction Crew as well as performing various duties on construction and / or paving projects. The Foreman handles the majority of aspects related to personnel management on site. They make decisions pertaining to production on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
• Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to management.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of the crew.
• Assist construction / paving crew with various duties such as; shoveling and raking, running wheelbarrow, equipment operations, safely backing / dumping trucks into paver.
• Daily reports for personnel, production, quantities, equipment utilized.
• May be required to use pressure washer and / or sandblasting equipment.
• Identify, understand, and report safety hazards, poor behavior, and unsafe actions immediately.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. A variety of noise levels, adverse weather conditions, and complex job sites are to be expected daily. Proper clothing, PPE (personal protective equipment), and safety precautions should be taken to ensure your safety, and the safety of others in all conditions.
