Description

Summary :

Responsible for the daily operation of EMS services for the City of Danbury and other Nuvance EMS and transportation / conveyance contractual obligations to assure the pre-hospital provider is equipped and prepared for the task of pre-hospital care activities.

Responsibilities :

1.  Fulfills the daily contractual obligations of   EMS.

2.  Completes daily vehicle & crew assignments being sure to look ahead to the next shift.

3.   Supervises the EMT's / Paramedics and support staff as assigned, responsible for performance reviews, and development of staff critical responsibilities.

4.   Attends to scheduling both routine and conflicts in order to maintain necessary staffing levels.

5.   Assures the operational readiness of vehicles and equipment necessary to provide contract requirements.

6.  Assigns equipment  and ensures that  it is distributed accordingly.

7.  Collects assigned equipment at the end of  shifts, verifying its condition and return.

8.  Collects crew paperwork at the end of their shift verifying its completion.

9.  Troubleshoots and remedies any equipment issues.

10. Ensures equipment and vehicles are ready for the upcoming shift.

11.  Verifies daily cleaning including LIV schedule.

12. Assess call volume for next 72 hrs. to make staffing  adjustment / recommendations.

13.  Assess upcoming transfers for special considerations.

14. Assist with transfers / Emergency calls.

15. Troubleshoot transfer paperwork or movement of patient issues.

16.  Support crews for complex or involved ALS transfers off floor.

17. Assist crews with turnarounds in ED.

18. Monitor on-time call performance.

19. Clinical backup for ALS transfers.

20.  Safe transfer, transfer authorization form, psych forms, etc. for call paperwork.

21. Call / PCR completion audit for shift.

22. Spontaneous audits for vehicle check sheets, including off-sites.

23 Off-site duty / assignments audit.

24.Vehicle& equipment to services as scheduled.

25.  Notification of potential supply / inventory issues.

26.  Supply room / closet checked (q shift).

27. Conducts and supervises continuing quality improvement - prepares daily & monthly reports. Evaluates call reports for protocol compliance, & documentation compliance of signatures, odometer readings,& HIPPA compliance.

28.  Administers fleet maintenance program.

29.  Prepares daily duty roster.

30.  Covers the majority of Medic III on call shifts, including weekends (combined and shared by all Medic III staff).

31.   Precepts new employees.

32.  Ensure, employees adhere to pre-determined policy and procedure & meet all expectations.

33.  Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Other Information :

Required :   Associate's Degree.

Minimum Experience : one year.

The recommended renewal date. AHA PALS (or PALS-Instructor) course completion certificate that has not reached the recommended renewal date. CPR, EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operation).

Paramedic license.

Desired : Bachelor's degree & supervisory experience.

Working Conditions :

Manual : Some manual skills / motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational : Some occupational risk

Physical Effort : Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment : Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
