Deputy Bailiff
The Deputy Bailiff is responsible for the safety and security of the Cleveland Municipal Court, Housing Division. Additional responsibilities include processing and enforcing the orders of the Court.
Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and / or abilities required :
Education and / or experience : High School graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor or Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement or related field preferred. Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) and / or Basic Bailiff Academy / Private Security Firearms Training preferred.
Physical demands : Because the primary function of a Deputy Bailiff is security and may involve physical contact, it is imperative that candidates are physically able to meet the physical demands of the job including, but not limited to, the ability to stand, or walk at least six (6) hours per day, and the ability to push and pull up to 75 pounds and lift at least fifty (50) pounds at any given time.
Court expectations of employee : In completing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the court expects the employee will adhere to all court policies, guidelines, practices, and procedures; act as a role model both inside and outside of the court; perform duties as workload necessitates in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner; be conscientious about meeting department productivity standards; and communicate regularly with the supervisor about department issues.
