As an Entry Level Structural Engineer (Substation) at Black & Veatch, you will play a meaningful role in addressing some of the world's most critical infrastructure challenges. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to diverse, impactful projects that support our clients' goals while fostering your professional growth and advancing the success of Black & Veatch. Chosen candidates will be located in / or relocate to Denver, CO or Tualatin, OR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Standards : Develop familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures.
  • Quality / Continuous Improvement : Develop an understanding and complies with the Black and Veatch quality program; supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Engineering Production : Contribute to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope; perform routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and / or materials selection; collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work; prepare basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis; understand and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Project Coordination : Share information with others as requested; coordinate with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership.
  • Client Focus : Focus on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers; may provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
  • Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology : Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications : Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program; ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (may include criminal / civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Preferred Qualifications : Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to the assigned engineering discipline; basic industry knowledge and technology trends; basic knowledge of the company quality program; basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles.
  • Non-Technical Skills : Learning on the fly, problem solving, intellectual horsepower, written communications, drive for results, informing, listening, dealing with ambiguity.

  • Full-time; Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.

  • Compensation & Benefits

    In accordance with local law, the following Annual compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition : $78,803.00 - $96,807.00.
