The Culinary Development Implementation Chef is responsible for facilitating the commercialization of Casey's menu items from the Store Support Center Innovation Kitchen to Casey's store kitchens. This role collaborates closely with Restaurant Operations, Learning & Development, and marketing teams to ensure the quality and consistency of product launches in stores.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and complete testing of recipes from innovation with an operations-focused lens, including ingredient preparation, quantities, smallwares, steps to complete the build, and cook time. Each recipe must be rigorously tested with thorough documentation and accompanying photos.
- Lead the recipe documentation process in collaboration with the Learning & Development team, ensuring that all recipes are accurately recorded with detailed instructions, ingredient lists, preparation steps, and cooking times to support training and operational consistency across all store locations.
- Lead the cross-functional sign-off process for recipes and procedures, collaborating with Restaurant Operations, Demand Planning, Food Safety, and Continuous Improvement (labor).
- Serve as the primary culinary contact for field and operations teams, overseeing product launches and process evaluations.
- Lead culinary events including food showcasing events, internal sensory evaluations, external CLTs, and meetings with the Board of Directors and investors.
- Lead culinary support for photo and video shoots, managing logistics, product specifications, and related details.
- Support the implementation of menus for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and non-traditional formats, ensuring seamless integration with Casey's core offerings.
- Create a Kitchen Table Club program to engage top kitchen managers across Casey's organization, gathering their feedback and optimizing processes.
- Champion best-in-class food safety practices at the Store Support Center and in the field.
Compensation
Starting pay range : $74,200 - $97,350. Actual pay may vary based on Casey's assessment of KSAs, related experience, education, and qualifications. This position is eligible for an annual cash bonus based on company performance. Our full salary range for this role does extend beyond the hiring range listed, allowing team members the opportunity to continue to grow within the company.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent work experience in a related field.At least five years of Product / Menu Development and Marketing experience.Experience within the Fast Food, Midscale, Casual Dining segments.ServSafe Food Manager Certification.Demonstrates understanding culinary basics : cooking techniques, product characteristics, safe food handling, idea development, and sanitation.A culinary professional with solid product development skills and the ability to manage food costs and other controllable expenses.Good understanding of the food innovation process, including idea generation, development, testing, and launching new products.Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively share information with team members, management, and external vendors.Exercise sound judgment in problem-solving, interpret diverse instructions, manage multiple variables, and maintain neutrality and confidentiality.Organized and efficient, able to prioritize multiple projects while working with a team. Pays attention to detail, ensures accuracy, and meets deadlines.Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and competing demands, and meeting tight deadlines.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Proficient in Microsoft Office products : Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Additional Requirements
Work is primarily performed in an office and innovation kitchen.Must be able to occasionally lift and / or move objects up to 30 pounds or more.May require working on occasional weekends, holidays, and outside of regular business hours.Travel required approximately 50% of the time.Must possess a valid driver's license and have the physical ability to drive a vehicle for job related travel.Seniority level
