Instructional Designer

Duties and Responsibilities :

Design and Develop Instructional Content : Create engaging and effective learning materials, including presentations, handouts, CBT modules, and job aids, using established templates and design standards.

Apply Instructional Design Principles : Develop content that aligns with adult learning theory and instructional best practices, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and learner engagement.

Engage in Proactive Stakeholder Communication : Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to provide project updates, gather feedback, and ensure alignment with strategic training goals and operational needs.

Manage Project Timelines and Milestones : Develop and maintain detailed project plans, track progress against key milestones, and address risks or delays to ensure timely delivery of training products.

Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) : Work closely with SMEs to gather technical content, clarify complex information, and translate it into learner-friendly formats that meet training objectives.

Review and Quality Assurance : Lead content reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with learning goals, incorporating feedback from stakeholders.

Contribute to Evaluation Efforts : Collect and organize learner feedback and assessment data to support the evaluation of training effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelors degree in instructional design, education, or related field

3+ years of experience in instructional design

Familiarity with adult learning theory and instructional technologies, including ADDIE

Experience with technical training programs, with a preference for transit

Knowledge and experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2

Experience with Learning Management System platforms and authoring tools including Adobe Captivate (Classic and / or New version) and InDesign

Experience holding working sessions with SMEs.

Preferred Qualifications :

Project Management Certification (PMP or similar)

Experience with transit technical training programs
