We are seeking a skilled Payroll Administrator to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Claremont, California . This role is ideal for professionals with strong payroll and leave administration experience, particularly within California . Experience in nonprofit or education sectors is highly preferred. You will be responsible for managing full-cycle payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with California payroll regulations , employee leave management, and payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process full-cycle payroll across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage payroll operations for 101–500 employees, including timecard review and reconciliation.
  • Utilize ADP Workforce Now to execute payroll tasks and maintain employee records.
  • Administer and track employee leaves, including medical leave, workers’ compensation, and other leave types.
  • Collaborate with HR on benefits administration and payroll-related adjustments.
  • Prepare and review pre- and post-funding payroll reports to ensure proper fund allocation.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and leave administration.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state (especially California), and local payroll regulations.
  • Support workers’ compensation processes, including pre- and post-case communication.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive employee data.
  • Proven experience processing payroll in California .
  • Strong understanding of leave administration , including workers’ compensation.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll systems.
  • Preferred background in nonprofit or education environments.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
