Competitive Pay ($65,000–$75,000 annually, based on experience)

OVERVIEW

A mission-driven property management organization is seeking a compassionate and experienced Director of Resident Engagement to lead the design and delivery of programs that support and enrich the lives of residents living in affordable housing communities. Based in Somerville, MA , this full-time leadership position oversees a team of Resident Engagement Coordinators (RECs) and works in close collaboration with property management teams to foster resident stability, engagement, and community well-being. The Director will also play a key role in building partnerships with local service providers and securing funding opportunities to support resident services.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Collaborate with property management teams to identify and coordinate programming that promotes housing stability and resident success
• Support RECs and site staff in developing resident engagement goals and measurable outcomes
• Design and implement programs that help reduce rent arrears, improve lease compliance, and promote positive resident relationships
• Establish and maintain strong partnerships with community-based organizations, service providers, and funders
• Train RECs on using an outcome tracking tool to evaluate program success and report results
• Lead efforts to identify and secure funding opportunities at the local and national level
• Supervise, mentor, and guide Resident Engagement Coordinators across multiple sites
• Analyze performance data and apply findings to improve service delivery
• Host regular check-ins with site teams to problem-solve challenges and plan engagement events
• Understand resident concerns and coordinate support through appropriate referrals and resources
• Oversee the planning of community-building events and seasonal celebrations
• Prepare standardized, site-specific monthly newsletters across all properties
• Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting to meet internal and external requirements
• Prepare monthly reports for leadership and funders
• Manage resident engagement budgets and any grant-funded program budgets
• Represent the organization professionally in meetings with local agencies, funders, municipalities, and community stakeholders
• Participate in professional development and organizational training opportunities
