We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician who is passionate about making a difference in our community. Our Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for providing the technical functions associated with the delivery of pharmaceutical care by maintaining proper stock levels in all pharmacy locations, compounding or otherwise preparing, filling, pricing, and delivering pharmaceuticals or other related items. May perform duties such as typing prescriptions, completing reports, operating and maintaining automated dispensing devices, data entry, and providing all aspects of customer service that are required to provide Pharmacy Department services.

A Day in the Life of a Pharmacy Technician may look like this :
- Assists the pharmacist in preparing patient prescriptions for patient.
- Orders pharmaceutical supplies; receives and documents receipt of supplies.
- Prepackages and compounds pharmaceutical supplies as required to maintain stock levels; orders and rotates stock supplies; restocks automated dispensing devices on the patient care.
- Uses the department's prepackaging and automated dispensing device; and analyzes, diagnoses, and corrects problems related to its operation.
- Uses the pharmacy computer system to complete medication order entry, billing, computer reports, audits, file maintenance, ADT reconciliation, patient charge / credit reconciliation, prescription distribution, and submission of drug orders.
- Records drug orders in the automated dispensing device; and analyzes diagnoses, and corrects problems related to its operation.
- Uses a cash register and credit card machine to obtain payment for prescriptions.
- Communicates with staff, patients, and customers regarding pharmacy.
- Answers telephone calls; performs all aspects of customer service, including typing and filling prescriptions; maintains files; completes clerical duties; maintains clerical equipment; and completes other duties required to maintain proper functioning of the pharmacist and Type in specific job duties under this area.
- May develop, implement and coordinate quality improvement, staff orientation, or staff development programs.
- Order, track, and receive patient assistance medications from the manufacturer.
- May assist in training new employees in some pharmacy.
- Performs and documents monthly unit inspections of areas where medications are dispensed, stored and administered; identifies and retrieves outdated drugs and supplies for proper disposal.
- May perform billing.
We ask our Pharmacy Technicians to possess a minimum of :
Current Certified Pharmacy Technician License with the Texas State Board of PharmacyCurrent (PTCB) Certified by Pharmacy Technician Certification BoardMinimum of two (2) – four (4) years of experience working in a retail pharmacy environmentThe following experience / skills are preferred :
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)Bilingual English / Spanish language skillsFamiliar with medical terminologyKey Success Factors
