You will be responsible for supporting a collaborative engineering lab environment where local software engineers, program business partners, and customer partners work together to develop, integrate, and deliver cutting-edge embedded systems solutions for the United States Special Operations Command. This team will focus on identifying technologies and developing best in breed solutions that will be matured into a fully developed and government owned software ecosystem that directly supports the warfighter.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Oversee local software engineers, program business partners, and customer partners in a collaborative engineering lab
- Lead and mentor the local development team onsite, fostering technical growth and collaboration
- Collaborate with senior program lead and program manager to align technical progress with business objectives
- Demonstrate expertise in working with small embedded systems such as NVIDIA Jetson, Qualcomm SoC, and other SBCs
- Ensure robust embedded Linux development, networking configuration, and integration of hardware / software components
- Promote lab best practices, network topologies, and integration standards in compliance with DoD guidelines
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug new and existing software systems and / or applications
- Constructively participate in code reviews
- Continuously learn, grow, and improve
- Proactively and constructively advocate for improvement on behalf of the team, and yourself
- Analyze user needs to determine technical requirements
- Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements
- Analyze code to find causes of errors / inefficiency and revise programs, as needed
Requirements
Location : This position is fully onsite and requires work to be performed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida . Remote work is not available for this role.
Necessary Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fieldMinimum 6-12 years of professional experience as a Software EngineerActive U.S. Government Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (TS / SCI). U.S. Citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams of 5-10 membersHands-on experience with Single Board Computers (SBCs) such as NVIDIA Jetson, Qualcomm Snapdragon / QRB, NXP i.MX, Raspberry PiProficiency in at least one of the following : C / C++, Java, and Python or RustProven ability to break down complex technical challenges, identify effective solutions, and clearly communicate decisions and rationale to engineering teams.Lead the local development team in adherence to SAFe Agile principles and ceremoniesExperience facilitating PI Planning, Sprint Planning, and Inspect & Adapt events to ensure program alignmentCoordinate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Release Train Engineers to maintain delivery cadenceEnsure program backlog refinement and alignment with business and technical objectivesBeneficial Skills and Experience
