Job Title : Lead Systems Engineer

Location : Phoenix, AZ

Employment Type : Contract (6 Months, with Potential for Extension or Permanency)

Pay Rate : $63.94 per hour

Role Overview

BEPC is seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to join the Military Fixed Wing Project Engineering team. This role supports the design and integration of military turbojet engine systems. The successful candidate will lead cross-functional engineering teams, managing complex projects under tight schedules, while driving innovation and ensuring compliance with technical and budgetary requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of engine systems throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Validate and verify requirements, resolve key technical challenges, and manage system integration.
  • Oversee acquisition of hardware, fabrication cost, and execution of qualification tasks.
  • Act as cost account manager for assigned scope, including Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting.
  • Manage an indirect span of control of 5–10 engineers, scaling to 15+ during peak execution.
  • Drive multiple programs or workstreams, balancing workload and ensuring team members stay on track.
  • Approve schedules and budgeted time for assigned tasks.
  • Identify risks and gaps, escalating effectively across leadership and stakeholders.
  • Implement design-to-cost and variation-reduction strategies.
  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and a strong technical culture.

Qualifications

Required :

  • Minimum 10 years of directly related engineering experience in design, development, manufacture, and / or test of gas turbine engines or similarly complex mechanical systems.

    • Preferred :

  • Demonstrated results orientation with strong customer focus.
  • Expertise in gas turbine engine module or system development and project management.
  • Proficiency in MS Project; Agile / Jira execution experience highly valued.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional, international teams in matrix organizations.
  • Strong decision-making, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for managing customers and suppliers.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to support program execution and customer engagement.
