Accounting Manager @ Kansas City, MO

Job Objective : The Accounting Manager ensures the accuracy of ledgers and financial reporting; guides assigned locations / departments with budgeting and forecasting; mentors other finance department staff.

Essential Functions :

• Maintain accurate ledgers, financial reporting and budgeting
• Review and approve accounting and reporting functions of assigned units
• Review and sign off on checks / ACH payments per established guidelines
• Work with officers / administrators / department heads for assigned units to create annual budgets and revisions as needed
• Act as a resource regarding complex financial transactions and reporting / tracking of funding
• Support and guide assigned units with understanding / monitoring financial matters and forecasting
• Monitor cash needs for assigned units
• Calculate quarterly support service adjustments for assigned units
• Maintain records within established Salvation Army policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications :

Education : Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Business administration and finance courses desirable. Courses in computer-based accounting very helpful.

Experience : Five years in the accounting field, non-profit accounting experience highly preferred.

Physical Requirements : Include good speaking, hearing and vision ability and excellent manual dexterity. Ability to stand, bend and reach for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment. This position may require the ability to lift and / or move more than 15 pounds occasionally. Driving : Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Working Conditions : Work is performed in a typical office environment. Full-time position; may require some weekend and evening work.
